Have Breeze Cut, will stamp

Saturday's rainy weather was just perfect for sprucing up Mielie's packaging with a custom made stamp, skillfully carved by Niki. He used Breeze Cut, which is much easier to cut than old fashioned lino. So nice to get my hands dirty again!

Just for you!

We're busy packing these custom cushions for customers in the US. I'm so pleased that they came out so beautifully! The "Helen & Carl" cushion is a wedding gift.

Welcome!

Zanele runs a thriving sewing business on the side, sewing outfits for church choirs, graduation gowns for preschoolers, chair covers. Whenever she gets a nice big order, she loves to buy something special with her earnings - like her beautiful black and red lounge suite, artistically decorated with the odd Mielie cast-off. Doesn't it just say - Welcome, have a seat?

Karoo bliss

Earlier this month husband Deon and I sneaked away for a week long road trip through the Klein Karoo. Every morning we would wake up with only the vaguest agenda and not the foggiest where we would sleep that night. We must have traversed at least ten magnificent mountain passes, shuddered our way over scores of dirt roads and passed through many a quaint one-blink-town.

It reminded me of when I was a child and we would all pile into the car on weekends and just... go for a drive!

... and oh boy, we live in a beautiful country!

The elephants marched in 12 x 12, Hurraah!

These cute ellie pencil cases just landed safely in Detroit, Michigan. The elephant with its UPturned trunk is the emblem of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a non-profit organization of 200,000 predominately Black college educated women that provides assistance and support to local communities throughout the world.

Thanks so much to Mielie's enthusiastic ambassador extraordinaire, Yvette Jenkins, for your tireless support and work! Yvette is pictured here with Zanele, when she visited us in February.
