If you go down to the woods today...

... you might find some pretty interesting crop circles! The orbit discs have been trickling in as the right colours come in. Luckily we still have a bit of time to complete the job so we can still afford to be fussy about getting exactly the right shades. Exactly what the job is, I can't tell you. Yet...

She came. She saw. She mucked in.

Meet Lucy Adams, who has spent the past month volunteering at Mielie. Lucy had arrived from the UK, and offered to share her (pretty impressive) organisational skills here at Mielie while she was waiting for her South African work permit. She helped us develop planning systems and production plans to help us foresee any hitches long before they become a crisis.

Enkosi khakulu, Lucy!

Sad news

On the hunt for some beautiful wool for a new range of coats, I popped into SA Fine Worsted, tradtionally Cape Town's Mecca for beautiful wool fabrics. ... Only to find out that they are yet another local textile factory that is closing down. In fact, the factory is already closed and the factory shop is only open for a couple more days. So if you want to stock up on some never-to-be-repeated bargains, pop in to their factory shop in 7th Ave, Kensington.

Personally, I'd prefer to pay a bit more and know they will be around in the future...

shipshape

I think this is the most cheerful fence in the whole of Cape Town. Every time I drive past it, I can't help but smile. Yesterday I saw the owner and creator leaving his house, so I quickly stopped to take some snaps. I'm afraid I didn't get his name, but he's from Hungary.

Queen of paisley

There were whoops and squeals of delight when Zanele's turn came to hand in her work yesterday. She made these beautiful paisley cushions for a chair that is waiting in Canada. Zanele (pictured here with her son, Lusanele) said it was a very difficult design - but the result is beautiful! Thanks Zanele.

Stox rocks

Remember the fabric I designed and had printed for our new range of Hero bags? I have had the 'Stox' design printed in 3 new colourways and am so delighted with how they came out! The fabric was insprired by Woodstock and Salt River, a very special part of Cape Town. My brain is whirring with ideas for bags, cushions, furniture...
